Wants are not needs…

Wants are not needs.

Please understand this, wants are not needs.

Most of us want a lot of things, mostly things.

But that is far from what we truly need.

We need love, companionship, enough food, water, clothing, shelter, safety and hope for the future.

Needs are essential yet sometimes altruistic and lofty.

Wants are above the basic needs and many times are self-centered.

Things, in themselves do not provide for the basic needs we all have.

Many times, getting the wants only covers over the basic needs we long for.

Striving for the wants only diminishes what we need.

What I want is not what I need.
