Love 22

Day 22

Colossians 3:19

Husbands love your wives…

So Paul is telling the Colossian men to love their wives. Isn’t that the way it’s supposed to be?

That’s a no-brainer isn’t it, or is it? Let’s face it, men and women haven’t changed much since Paul’s time. A big chunk of marriages fail, 50%, 30%, it doesn’t matter.

Marriage is a gamble these days.

It comes down to the love that isn’t there in most marriages anymore. Why? Well there are a thousand reasons why. But the biggest reason of all is most people are selfish.

People aren’t willing to give the time, effort, and work that loving another requires. They may not say it but the bottom line is, “what is in it for me?”

Paul gives a command, love your wives.

Husbands, I don’t care how much you love your job or your big screen TV; love your wives first and always.

That’s the way it’s supposed to be; it’s a no-brainer. But husbands need to be reminded then and now, so do wives.

  1. What’s the marriage history in your family? Who has been married a long time?

  2. How have they succeeded where others have failed? Ask them. Learn from them.

  3. If there are a lot of divorces in the family tree, vow to stop that pattern in your own life.

  4. Renew the covenant you made to your spouse.

  5. Take the “D” (Divorce) word out of your vocabulary.

  6. If your marriage is in trouble seek help.
