This Parenting Thing…

This Parenting Thing.

If you are a new parent God bless you.

If you have been a parent for a while if you survive you will become a saint.

Parenting is the hardest thing you will ever do in your entire life. It is a job that is constantly changing and never ends. If you are a parent you will be one to your grave and beyond. What you do as a parent has ramifications for generations.

There is no job on earth that is tougher than parenting.

It is physically, emotionally and spiritually demanding. It is 24/7 for 52 weeks a year. There is no overtime pay and no vacations from the job of parenting. Parenting never stops and you will be a parent to your children regardless of their age. The circumstances change but the job of a parent never ends. You are your children’s parent forever. However, the benefits and rewards of parenting done well are immense. If you have done the job well when you pass from this life your children, grandchildren and possibly your great grandchildren will honor you and praise your name.

Our local community, our churches, our country depend on parents to raise up children to be dependable, responsible and contributing citizens in society. No organization, institution or agency can do the job that parents can do in bringing up children.

Understand this though parenting is the greatest joy any one can experience in this life.

That child that you have co-created with God is a blessing to you and the world. That baby in your arms, that toddler with its arms around your neck, that kid that gives you that hug is a treasure beyond compare. Enjoy every moment, revel in every challenge thank God for every opportunity that parenting provides.
