Too much stuff…

unnamed (6)

We all have to much stuff. You do, I do, we all have, too much stuff.

We now have a mental health disorder to describe too muchness.

It’s called Hoarding and is one of the new mental health descriptions in the new DSM5.

I know you have heard of it and maybe even laughed and joked about it.

Did you also look around your own place and wonder, “Are we getting close to having to much stuff?”

There is a huge industry out there for packaging, storing and housing the stuff you really don’t need.

The point is if you have to pay to store it and get it out of your way you really don’t need it. You really don’t.

Here’s a couple rules to determine if you should keep stuff.

  1. If you haven’t used it in a year. Get rid of it.
  2. If it doesn’t fit even if you think it might someday. Get rid of it.
  3. If you have two of them and you don’t use or need two. Get rid of it. This does not include children.
  4. If it’s broken. Fix it or get rid of it.
  5. If you think you might use it someday. Don’t bet on that. Get rid of it.
  6. If you think it will not come back in style. Get rid of it
  7. If it’s on tape (VHS,cassette, reel to reel), upgrade to digital and get rid of it.

Clean up your stuff, your life and your mind.

You have too much stuff.
