Moving fulltime to Cambria

Well it is finally happening. Our house is sold and going through escrow. My wife is retiring from the school district and we will be living on the California coast full time at the end of May.

So what does all this mean?

Right now it means a lot of stress. Packing, cleaning, and throwing stuff out, trips to the thrift store, memories, emotions and much, much more. No wonder moving is one of top ten stressors. Then, just for fun throwing in retirement and job changes.

What can you do to reduce stress when things change?

Here is what we are doing.

  1. Take a deep breath. Take a lot of deep breaths.
  2. Have a plan. Stick to it.
  3. Focus on the job at hand. Sometimes you get all nostalgic and lose focus. Save nostalgia for later.
  4. Get some good deserved rest, Naps help.
  5. Keep your eye on the future.
  6. We are moving not dying. The happiness will outweigh any sadness.
  7. Be ruthless. You really can’t keep all the stuff you saved.
  8. Less is more. More time, more space, more memories to make.
  9. Keep your friends and family close. Share your thoughts and dreams. Keep in touch. Technology helps.
  10. Pray
  11. Never stop dreaming.

We are moving in to a new phase of our lives. Adventures await us.

  1. Congratulations, Frank and Suzanne; great families are such a blessing. Jim and Marty
