In Marriage “!*#!” Happens

In Marriage “!*#!” Happens

Yes sometimes “!*#!”literally happens.

So my day was just starting and my wife asks, “What’s that smell?”

You can probably guess what happened next.

The sewer line was backed up. The toilets overflowed and the bath and shower were filled with a ½ inch of you know what.

So there was a frantic run to get towels to sop up the mess, a call to the plumber who is really busy on Monday mornings and then clean up the “!#*!”.

The plumber finally came, the floors, tub and showers were cleaned up “twice” for good measure and the day goes on. Maybe a little bit more frazzled but the day goes on.

In your life and in your marriage know that it is going to happen. It’s not that it should never happen. Life will never be without a little bit of it happening. Sometimes it happens at the most inconvenient times. Just when you thought you had it all together the toilet overflows.

However it’s the way you handle the “!*#!” that counts.

Because “!*#!” happened today I’m not going to divorce my wife, run away from it all or shoot myself. Because I have come to understand that “!*#!” does happen and you get through and get by it and clean up after it.

The toilets will overflow, you’ll catch the flu and throw up, the baby is going to make a mess, and the car is going to get a flat. Some days they all happen at once.

You just have to deal with the inconvenience of it all and frankly move on.

The moving on and getting over those inconveniences is where it counts the most.

So understand that “!*#!”  can, does and will happen.

Take a deep breath, roll up your sleeves and take care of it.

***Please understand that I try not to cuss but occasionally I do. For this illustration it seemed appropriate.
