High Ground Attitude

Excerpt from my book

The Shut Up Book

A 40 day Biblical Approach to Controlling your Mouth

Titus 2:8

… Sound in speech which is beyond reproach, in order that the opponent may be put to shame…

There comes a point when you get into a discussion, a disagreement and you just can’t back away. Notice I didn’t say argument. If you are in an argument then as a Christian you automatically lost. Arguments are all about posturing, emotions, and tension and that is nowhere you want to be. Arguments lead to fights and that’s where you lose all control, if you still have any.

So what’s the answer, what’s the game plan? Always, always take the high ground. Your speech should be above reproach. That means what you say should be well thought out, truthful, and never in any way offensive.

In all you do and say you are God’s man/woman so like they say, “represent”. Be in the spirit and not in the flesh. Our flesh wants to get in the best word, take them down a notch or two. Our flesh wouldn’t mind getting in a good punch, too! Stay away from those desires, be above reproach, and take the high road.

From a very practical standpoint staying on the high ground wins the argument. There is no winning against truth. God is truth, so speak in the truth of God and His word.

Those that disagree with you can give all the “Oh yeahs…”,” What if…” and” How about…” But they will never overcome the integrity of God’s truth. They will just have to walk away or come to a saving knowledge of Christ. Either way you win. Take the high road.

  1. What is a high ground attitude?
  2. Right now how can you take the high ground in your life?

  1. Good word!

    • Thanks Bryan. More to come.

Thank you
