Don’t Just Talk Do Something

Proverbs 14:23

In all labor there is profit, but mere talk leads only to poverty.

Everybody knows what other people should do to solve their problems and dilemmas. We love to think we know how everyone should live their lives.

However, we have a tough time solving our own troubles. We know what other people should do with their lives, but don’t do it ourselves. “Do what I say not what I do” seems to be the case with a lot of people.

I’m a therapist and talking is my business. But if the talk doesn’t lead to action then it is useless. In therapy the first thing I do with clients is to set therapy goals. We discuss progress towards those goals often. This therapy business I am in is all about change and most of the time change means hard work. Talking will get you nowhere if that is all you’re doing.

Have you heard it said, “Actions speak louder than words”? So get up and get to work.

  1. Do you have plans and dreams for your life? Name them.
  2. What steps are you taking to achieve those goals?
  3. What is keeping you from moving forward/
  4. Make yourself accountable for your goals. Tell someone and be accountable for your words.
  5. Do what you say.
